Not many people can say they live a short stroll from the Sacramento Zoo, Fairytale Town, Funderland and the William Land Golf Course, but that’s Land Park for you. With a park that size next door, there’s always somebody wandering past your front yard. Land Park Christmas light installation, for us, means the houses on those wide, shady Sacramento streets.
Start with how old your house is
Homes here run mostly early 1900s through mid-century, in a real mix of styles, so when you call (916) 313-4551 we ask about age and shape before anything else.
Early 1900s homes
Older houses tend to have steeper roofs, deeper porches and woodwork you’d hate to see damaged. We outline the gables and the porch roof using clips that hold a gutter edge or a shingle, and we keep nails and staples far away from the trim. Porch posts take pillar wraps well. A lit garland across the top of the doorway, plus a wreath lit up on the door itself, finishes the porch off.
Mid-century homes
Later houses sit lower and wider. That’s a long, level roofline, which looks terrific as one unbroken run of light. The trick is keeping it dead straight, since a low eave is right at eye level from the sidewalk. Wide front windows are a good spot for a pair of wreaths.
Wide streets, tall shade
The streets between Freeport Boulevard and I-5 are broad and sit under a mature canopy. A wide street means your house is viewed from farther back, so thin details get lost and bolder moves win: a full roofline, wrapped trunks, a lit path.
For tree wraps we cover the trunk plus the first big limbs, street side. We wind them firmly without cinching the bark, and January is when they’re unwound, long before the tree leafs out. Stake lighting on the walk or the driveway edge gives the yard a floor of light under all that dark canopy. We check for sprinkler heads before a single stake goes in.
We also work across Freeport in Curtis Park, and below Sutterville Road in South Land Park and Hollywood Park, plus the rest of Sacramento. If a lit front walk is what you’re after, our stake lighting page has more. Got a storefront on Broadway near Tower Cafe? We light businesses too.
The Land Park Community Association is voluntary
Land Park doesn’t have a homeowners association. The Land Park Community Association is voluntary, which means no list of allowed days to check and no form to file. Want your lights up while the neighbors are still raking leaves? Nobody will stop you. Call (916) 313-4551 as early as you like.
Land Park Christmas light installation, the practical bits
- Quotes: we talk by phone, or you text or email some pictures over, or use the contact page. Call (916) 313-4551.
- Supplies: we bring the roofline lights, wraps, wreaths, garland, stakes, cords and clips. You shop for nothing.
- Timers: set to switch on when it gets dark and off at a neighborly hour.
- Repairs: a section goes out, you call, we fix it.
- January: the crew returns, unclips the lot and drives it away. You store nothing.
One more thing when you call (916) 313-4551: do tell us if you’re a zoo-side or a golf-side household. We like knowing these things.
Questions we hear in Land Park
Does the Land Park Community Association set any dates for lights?
No. It’s a voluntary group, not an HOA, and Land Park has none. The timing of your lights is up to you.
The trees on my street are huge. Can you light them?
The trunk and the stout lower limbs get the wrap, since that’s what shows from the street. We don’t climb into the high canopy, and the wraps come off in January.
Do you light businesses on Broadway or Freeport Boulevard?
Yes. We install for storefronts, restaurants and offices as well as homes. Call and describe the front of the building, or send photos.
My house faces William Land Regional Park. Does that change what you’d light?
A little. Park-facing houses get seen from farther back, so a full roofline and wrapped trunks do more than small porch details.
