Hollywood Park has a funny secret: there’s no park in it. The nearest big lawn is William Land Regional Park, a walk away. So in December, the scenery on an evening stroll is whatever the neighbors put on their houses. We’d love to help with yours. Hollywood Park Christmas light installation from our crew means we supply the lights, do the climbing and come back in January to pack it all up. Ring (916) 313-4551 and say which block.

A 1950 neighborhood built for young families

Hollywood Park was established in 1950, part of Sacramento’s building boom after World War II. A newspaper history of the neighborhood says many of the first owners were young ex-GIs and their families, new to the capital. Seventy-odd years on, it runs from Sutterville Road down to Fruitridge Road and from Freeport Boulevard over to 24th Street, with the Carleton Tract inside those lines.

We haven’t found a reliable description of the house types block by block, so we won’t hand you one. Send a photo and we’ll work from the real thing.

The Hollywood Park Neighborhood Association isn’t an HOA

We could find no homeowners association in Hollywood Park. What it has is the Hollywood Park Neighborhood Association, a volunteer group that has been around since 1992 and that neighbors join by choice. It meets at Centennial United Methodist Church on Freeport Boulevard, and it doesn’t issue light schedules. If you want lights up early, we can do early. If you want all color, all white or a bit of both, that’s between you and your own good taste.

Freedom comes with one neighborly habit we’d suggest anyway. We set every display on a timer so it switches off late in the evening. Your lights get admired at dinnertime and nobody’s bedroom glows at 2 a.m.

Why Hollywood Park Christmas lights start with a photo

We don’t guess at houses, and we don’t send anyone over to measure. Text or email us a picture of your home’s front and we’ll build the plan from what’s actually there. Tell us a little about it too. Is the roof one story or two? Shingle or tile? Is there a tree in the front yard, a porch with posts, a walkway to the door? Five minutes on the phone at (916) 313-4551 covers it.

Roof material changes our method, so it’s the thing we ask about most. Shingle and tile take different clips, and tile doesn’t get walked on. Either way, nothing gets nailed or stapled.

Hollywood Park Christmas light installation for walkers and for drivers

On a block where the evening walk is the entertainment, the things at eye level matter most: pillar wraps on porch posts, a lit wreath for the door, lit garland framing the entry, and stake lighting beside the path to the door, set by hand so we miss your sprinkler heads. Along Freeport Boulevard and Fruitridge Road, at the edges of the neighborhood, people pass in cars. Bigger shapes do the work there: roofline lights on the eaves and peaks that face the street, and a tree wrap on a front-yard trunk and its low limbs.

You don’t need all six. Plenty of people pick a roofline and a wreath and call it done. Others skip the roof and go all in on the yard. Our home lighting page shows how the pieces fit together, and the stake lighting page is worth a read if your front walk is the main event.

    On the school run

If you live on one of the blocks around Hollywood Park Elementary, your house gets a parade of small critics twice a day. Winter mornings are dark at drop-off time, and a timer can run your lights for an hour then as well as in the evening. Kids notice. Parents notice too.

    Neighbors we already visit

Hollywood Park sits just southeast of Land Park, and we’re in that end of town all season. Our Land Park installs keep us nearby, and our downtown base isn’t far. That makes it easy to return if a strand quits (call (916) 313-4551), and easy to come back for the January takedown. We pull every clip and cord. You store nothing.

Got a photo ready? Send it through the contact page, or text it and follow up with a call to (916) 313-4551.

The ex-GIs who settled this neighborhood hung their own lights. You don’t have to.

Questions we hear in Hollywood Park

Are there any date or color rules for lights on a Hollywood Park house?

No. There is no HOA here. The Hollywood Park Neighborhood Association is run by volunteers and sets no display dates or color rules. We hang the lights when you want them and take them down in January.

Does the plan change on the Carleton Tract side of Hollywood Park?

No. The neighborhood association’s own boundaries take in the Carleton Tract, and we work everything between Sutterville Road and Fruitridge Road.

I’m near Hollywood Park Elementary. Can the lights run in the morning too?

Yes. The timer can be set for a morning stretch during dark school drop-offs as well as the evening hours.

Do you know what kind of roof Hollywood Park houses have?

Not street by street, and we’d rather not guess. The neighborhood dates to 1950, but a photo of your roof edge tells us which clip to bring. Shingle and tile each get their own, and neither gets nails or staples.
