Plenty of the houses off Watt Avenue north of I-80 are one story, with a simple gable over the garage and a patch of lawn out front. For North Highlands Christmas light installation, that’s a house that lights up quickly, and it doesn’t take a giant budget to make one of these homes shine. Our crew drives up from downtown Sacramento every day of the season. Ring us at (916) 313-4551 and we’ll price your place for free.

    Watt/Madison Square ranch streets

Around Watt/Madison Square, down by the Sacramento side, the yards are real yards and the ranch rooflines are straightforward. On homes like these, one tidy run along the front eave, a frame around the garage peak and a wreath centered on that gable is usually plenty.

Color is up to you. Warm white looks crisp against stucco or painted wood siding, and old-school multicolor bulbs feel right at home on an older ranch house. We’re happy either way, and if you can’t decide, we’ll text you pictures of both on a house like yours.

Duplexes and manufactured homes around Hillsdale

Hillsdale, off Hillsdale Boulevard, has a mix you don’t find everywhere: condos, ranch houses, duplexes and manufactured homes, many from the 1970s. Duplex owners often want their half lit and the other half left alone. That’s easy. We stop right at the shared wall. (If both sides want to match, even better, and we can quote them together.) On manufactured homes we pick lightweight clips that suit the roof edge, so nothing bends or gets punctured, and we keep cords tucked along the skirting instead of draped across the steps.

Planehaven and the streets near Strizek Park

Planehaven is a small neighborhood whose park sits on the corner where Poplar Boulevard meets North Airway Drive, and its name tips a hat to the McClellan days next door. Over by Strizek Park on Stephen Drive, and along the blocks behind Ruth Inman Park on Watt, it’s mostly single-story houses on regular lots. Aero Haven, around the elementary school of the same name, has the same mix, and a lot of those blocks see school traffic every evening. Across these streets, front yards tend to have medium-sized trees, which is great news. They wrap nicely without a tall ladder, and a lit trunk beside a lit roofline gives the yard some depth.

North Highlands Christmas light installation, piece by piece

    • Roofline: gutter clips and shingle tabs only. We never nail or staple into your fascia.
    • Tree wraps: trunks and first branches, evenly spaced so the spiral looks clean from the curb.
    • Pillar wraps: porch posts and columns wrapped from base to beam.
    • Stake lighting: down the front walk and the drive, set around your sprinkler heads, not on top of them.
    • Wreaths: lit and hung on hooks or clips, with no new holes.
    • Garland: lit garland draped on railings, entries and porch beams.

Power deserves a word. Older garages here sometimes have one outdoor plug that shares a circuit with the garage fridge or a freezer. We check what’s on that line before we plug in, spread things out if we need to, and program timers so your display handles its own evening schedule from Thanksgiving weekend through New Year’s.

Shops and churches along Watt, Elkhorn and Walerga

Businesses on the big roads get the same work, timed to their hours. We outline storefronts, put garland and wreaths at the doors, and wrap the columns at church and office entries. The business park at McClellan has some great buildings for this kind of thing, too.

    Repairs, takedown and the neighborhood

If part of your display goes dark, call (916) 313-4551 and a crew member will come fix it. After the holidays, sometime in January, the same crew returns to unclip every strand and load it onto our truck. We spend a lot of December in Antelope, Foothill Farms and Rio Linda, and head home to Sacramento each evening, so North Highlands is right between. Our stake lighting page shows how we lay out a front walk. Phone (916) 313-4551 or drop a note through the contact page to get a date, and mention if you share a wall.
