The Bee’s 2025 holiday guide sent people to 7350 Durfee Way for about two and a half miles of lights on the Pocket Canal Parkway, plus a living Christmas tree at Portuguese Park. People down in this corner of Sacramento go big. Pocket-Greenhaven Christmas light installation covers the houses in between: ranches, two-stories, halfplexes and the ones on the water. Our line is (916) 313-4551.
That guide listed 6558 Benham Way and 7296 Riverwind Way too, with a 73-foot redwood carrying more than 10,000 lights and wall-to-wall inflatables. We can’t get you a 73-foot redwood. A straight roofline, though, we can do.
The Greenhaven side: 1960s and 70s ranches
Greenhaven came first, starting in 1961 and building through the 1970s. Think mid-century ranch homes: one level, broad front, low eaves. A ranch takes roofline lights beautifully because the line is long and uninterrupted. We clip along the gutter, or beneath the shingle edge, and keep the run level, since any dip shows on a low roof. The street trees have had decades to fill in, so a wrapped front-yard trunk carries real weight in the display.
The Pocket side: bigger 80s and 90s houses
The Pocket filled in during the 1980s and 1990s with larger homes, some with a Mediterranean touch. Bigger fronts and more peaks. If yours has a tile roof, it gets tile clips, and we stay on ladders at the edge. Entries on these houses are often taller, which suits pillar wraps on the columns and lit garland framing the door. Hung above the garage or in an upstairs window, a lit wreath fills the big blank wall these houses often have.
Halfplexes and duplexes
There are a great many of them here, and they raise a fair question: where do your lights stop? We stop your run at the party wall and cap it so it looks finished, not chopped off. Better yet, chat with the neighbor. Lit together, a halfplex looks like one grand house, and we’re happy to quote both sides at once.
Backing onto a greenbelt, a canal or the levee
With greenbelts, canals, 18 public parks and the Sacramento River levee, plenty of back fences face a public path. If people stroll past your back fence every evening, that fence is as public as your porch. Lights on the fence top, clipped and never stapled, plus stake lighting inside the yard, give the walkers something to smile at. Our fence line lights page explains how that works.
HOAs: some tracts yes, most streets no
Most of Pocket-Greenhaven has no homeowners association, and the Pocket-Greenhaven Community Association is a voluntary group. A few tracts have associations of their own, the Riverlake Community Association and the Lake Greenhaven HOA among them, and so do some gated enclaves. If you’re in one, we plan both visits around whatever its current rules say. Riverlake owners can read our Riverlake page for specifics. Not sure if your street belongs to one? Your closing papers or a longtime neighbor will know. Then call (916) 313-4551.
Pocket-Greenhaven Christmas light installation, quote to January
Phone (916) 313-4551, or send over a handful of pictures of the house by text or email, and a quote comes back. The lights are ours. We hang them, set the timer, and in January we’re back to pull down every piece. A dark patch in the display? Ring (916) 313-4551 and it gets fixed.
We work up and down Pocket Road and Greenhaven Drive, out by Garcia Bend Park, and over in South Land Park. Our Sacramento page shows the wider service area, and the contact page takes photos.
Questions we hear in Pocket-Greenhaven
Which parts of Pocket-Greenhaven fall under an association?
A few tracts. Riverlake and Lake Greenhaven have their own associations, and some gated enclaves do too. Most streets have none. Joining the Pocket-Greenhaven Community Association is optional.
I own one half of a halfplex. Will you light just mine?
Sure. Your roofline run ends right at the party wall, capped so it looks finished. And if next door decides to join, we quote the two together.
My back fence faces the Pocket Canal Parkway. Can that be lit?
Yes. Fence-top lights attach with clips, and we plan a cord route to an outlet in your yard. Let us know where the outlets are when you call.
Do you handle the tile roofs on the newer Pocket homes?
We do. Tile gets clips made for it, and our ladders stay at the eave so tiles aren’t stepped on.
