The pool at Tahoe Park gets all the attention in July. December belongs to the bungalows around it. These are compact one-story Sacramento houses with green front yards, and a house that size can go from dark to cheerful in a single short visit. That’s the nice thing about Tahoe Park Christmas light installation: small roof, quick job, big smile from the sidewalk.
Small houses are the easy ones
Most homes here are bungalows and California ranch houses from the middle of the last century, two or three bedrooms, somewhere around 1,000 to 1,300 square feet. For us that means a single story, a modest front eave and usually one little gable over the door. We can clip a roofline like that without ever walking the roof, working off ladders at the gutter. The clips squeeze on and squeeze off. No staple gun comes near your shingles or paint.
Because the house is small, it doesn’t take much to make it look complete. The common mistake on a bungalow is too much, not too little. One clean line across the front and around the gable usually does more than lights on every surface.
What we’d put where
- Roofline lights: the street-facing eave and the entry gable. On a corner lot along 59th Street or 65th Street we’ll carry the line around the side that faces traffic.
- Tree wraps: if you have a front-yard tree with a clear trunk, the trunk and the lowest sturdy limbs get wrapped. One wrapped tree on a small lot goes a long way.
- Pillar wraps: porch posts, even skinny ones, get wound top to bottom so the entry glows.
- Stake lighting: edging the front walk or the driveway edge. Tahoe Park lots are good-sized for the house, so there’s usually a real stretch of lawn to border. We dodge the sprinkler heads.
- Lit wreaths: on the front door, or centered on that little gable.
- Lit garland: framing the door or draped on a porch rail, fastened with ties instead of tacks.
We bring every bit of it. You don’t buy, test or untangle anything, and you don’t find shelf space for it afterward. There’s more on the roof side of things on our Christmas lights installation page.
Which Tahoe Park are you in?
People mean a few different places when they say Tahoe Park, and we work all of them. Tell us which when you call (916) 313-4551. First comes the original neighborhood around the 19-acre park itself. Then Tahoe Park East, on the far side of 65th Street. Then Tahoe Park South, also known as Tallac Village, like the Tallac Village Shopping Center. And north of Broadway sits Tahoe Terrace, a little subdivision from 1945. The houses are cousins in all four: low and tidy, which is exactly why lights show so well on them.
If you’re near Broadway and want the storefront lit too, we do businesses as well as homes. Same number: (916) 313-4551.
No HOA, and what that means for Tahoe Park Christmas lights
Tahoe Park has no homeowners association. Nobody mails you a list of approved dates or approved colors. Want colored lights the week the weather turns cool? Do it. Want them still twinkling when the relatives finally go home? Up to you. Our only fixed date is ours: January is when we return and strip the house bare, clips and all.
Every job gets a timer. The glow starts at dusk and quits at bedtime whether or not anyone is home to flip a switch.
Getting a Tahoe Park Christmas light installation quote
We don’t do estimate appointments. Ring (916) 313-4551 and describe the house, or text us a photo of the front taken from the street. A bungalow is simple to quote from one good picture, and the contact page takes those too. If a strand acts up in December, phone and we’ll fix it.
Tahoe Park is a short hop from our downtown base, and we’re often close by doing holiday lights in Elmhurst the same week, along with the rest of Sacramento. Come July, the pool gets the attention back.
Questions we hear in Tahoe Park
Does anybody limit Christmas lights on a Tahoe Park house?
No. No association covers Tahoe Park, so there are no set dates or color rules to follow. We put the lights up when you want them and remove them in January.
Is my house too small for Tahoe Park Christmas light installation?
Not at all. Small single-story bungalows are some of our favorite jobs because a simple roofline and a wreath can finish the whole front.
Do you cover Tahoe Park East, Tallac Village and Tahoe Terrace?
Yes. We work the original neighborhood by the park, Tahoe Park East, Tahoe Park South (Tallac Village) and Tahoe Terrace north of Broadway.
I’m on a corner lot on 59th Street. Do you light both sides?
We carry the roofline around whichever side faces traffic and stop there.
