Every single-family house in McKinley Village was built solar ready, with a designated solar zone on the roof. That one fact shapes how lights go up here more than anything else. McKinley Village Christmas light installation has to keep the panels, the small lots and the association all in mind. Call (916) 313-4551 and we’ll talk it through.
Roofs with a job to do
A roof that’s busy making electricity is no place for cords and clips. We keep roofline lights on the eave edge and the gutter, and we stay out of the solar zone entirely. No wires across panels, no clips near the racking, no boots on the array. Happily, these houses borrow their looks from East Sacramento and the McKinley Park blocks, so the front elevations have gables, porches and trim lines that outline nicely from the edge alone. And since the neighborhood only dates to 2016, the gutters tend to be straight, which makes for crisp lines.
The McKinley Village Homeowners Association
There is an HOA here, the McKinley Village Homeowners Association, and exterior changes go through its Design Review Committee. We read the association’s public Design Guidelines and found no clause about holiday or seasonal lighting. The recorded CC&Rs are a separate, much longer document, and we can’t tell you what they say on the subject. So we won’t guess. Check the current documents or ask the association, then let us know what period applies, and both the hanging day and the January takedown get scheduled to suit.
Whatever the CC&Rs turn out to say, our part is temporary: removable clips, nothing drilled, gone in January. And we decorate your home only. The clubhouse, the parks and the street trees stay as they are.
Small lots, front porches, alley garages
Lots are small, streets are tree-lined and built for walking, and in places the parking sits behind the houses on alleys and T-courts. With no garage door hogging the front, the porch and the front door are the whole show.
- Pillar and column wraps wound up the porch posts.
- Lit garland draped on the railing or framing the front door.
- Lit wreaths on the door and the street-facing windows. Our wreath hanging page has the details.
- Stake lighting on the short front walk, kept off the sprinkler heads.
- Tree wraps on a tree that stands in your own yard. Street and park trees stay as they are.
Alley garages matter for power too. Let us know whether there’s an outlet on the front porch, because that decides how the cords run.
Condos in the village
The village includes condominiums as well as houses. A condo usually means a door, maybe a balcony rail, and shared walls and roofs that the association owns. A lit wreath and a bit of garland at your own entry is the usual scope. Ask the association what’s allowed on balconies before we book anything.
Phone or photo quotes for McKinley Village Christmas light installation
Quotes need only a phone call or some pictures you text or email. Dial (916) 313-4551 to begin. The lights come with us, go up on your house, and leave with us again in January. If something stops working in between, call (916) 313-4551.
You’ll also find us in East Sacramento just across the freeway, including the Fabulous 40s, and all around Sacramento. The contact page takes photos and questions. We’ll be the ladder truck parked by the community garden.
Questions we hear in McKinley Village
What period does the McKinley Village HOA allow for holiday lights?
We don’t have a confirmed answer. The public Design Guidelines we read contain no seasonal lighting clause, so check the current CC&Rs or ask the association. We’ll schedule around whatever they say.
Will lights interfere with my solar panels?
No. Everything stays on the eave edge and gutters and out of the roof’s solar zone, so nothing crosses or shades the panels.
Does the Design Review Committee have to okay Christmas lights?
We can’t answer for the association. Our lights hang on removable clips and leave in January with nothing altered, but confirm with the HOA whether temporary decorations need any sign-off.
Can you decorate a condo in McKinley Village?
Usually the entry door and possibly a balcony rail, with a wreath and garland. Shared roofs and walls are the association’s, so ask what it permits first.
